Project Management for SMEs

We have significant experience project managing contracts from the smallest job, through to $2.5M contracts. In terms of volume we’ve developed strategies and frameworks to deliver between $25-50M worth of contracts daily across hundreds of projects. We understand PM, architecture and design, strategic asset management and facilities management - none of which should be expensive or prohibitive to implement for any size SME.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT (PM)

We can project manage any sized project. Some of the contracts we can deliver include the following:

  • Office fit-out. We can PM the entire process to ensure you keep focussed on your core business and yet secure exactly what you contractually ask and pay for.

  • New capital / facilities. SMEA team members have project managed large new builds for some of the most prestigious businesses in New Zealand and built both processing and visitor centre infrastructure.

  • Track / Event Design. We work with leading companies to PM the design, build and certification of tracks, events and associated tasks. We can replicate these processes for any type or size of project and ensure we fit within your budget.

  • House extension / rebuild or new build. We appreciate owners often want to PM their own work, but it takes time and takes you away from both family and your career. For a minimal fee we can control the entire process from start to finish and take the headache of dealing with sub-contractors away.

STRATEGIC ASSET MANAGEMENT (SAM)

One of the areas many SMEs fail to concentrate on is the strategic management of assets. The most common scenario is waiting for something to break rather than service or maintain the item. Protecting assets on a routine basis, through a simple preventative maintenance schedule, can save you thousands of dollars in terms of both lost productivity and the cost of fixing an asset. In fact, you’ll find over the long-term that it will cost you less to maintain assets, than only addressing an item when it breaks.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT (FM)

We don’t take on multi-million dollar facility management contracts but prefer to focus on smaller-scale SME focussed outcomes. We take the complex systems utilised by large FM firms and adapt these processes to SMEs to ensure our clients secure a high professional outcome at a price they can afford. The beauty of this model is that we rely on a smaller more reliable base of expert sub-contractors, who turn up on time to deliver high level FM outcomes to our SME clients. We also prove as a company to be far less bureaucratic and rigid than larger firms.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

SMEA has a small team of architectural designers who work with clients to make dreams and ideas a reality. Similar to FM we don’t design $100M buildings - we keep it small and niche to ensure our design platform is accessible and affordable to SMEs. The beauty of working with us is that you secure an architectural design arm that speaks to and works with, all of our other arms - PM, FM and SAM staff. We don’t have divisions who work in isolation and we don’t have massive overheads with large CBD offices. That’s why we are very happy to take on smaller projects and ensure we stay affordable.
