Project Management
When it comes to project management we shift the focus from ‘cost’ to ‘value’. That’s why private equity firms, universities and Australia’s most successful manufacturers engage us.
Too many choices
Marketing executives will tell you that too many choices and the need to hire multiple consultants to achieve the desired outcome on a contract, results in either the wrong decision, or no decision, being made. In essence, bringing a team together often proves too expensive so poor decisions are made and the wrong people appointed to run the project. We address this problem by project managing contracts on your terms. We deliver the project for either a fixed price or hourly rate and manage the entire process to ensure you obtain the depth of advice you need, without the associated price tag.
No fixed costs
Lowering fixed costs is the key to any business. No one wants to hire a full-time employee to deliver a specific project that may only last six months. That’s why clients hire us on a short-term contract basis. We set-up and run the Project Control Group, engage external providers, deliver the project on time and to budget and exit once the project is commissioned and our job is done.
Independence
A key to our success is our independence. Clients engage us independently to deliver projects. We don’t come from within the organisation and so any actual or perceived ‘issues’ - rightly or wrongly - don’t link and are not associated with us. We are there to independently build a team and deliver an outcome. Strangely, this separation is nearly always supported by third party consultants who value our independence because it’s clean and professional.
Eclectic
We’ve briefed everyone from the Prime Ministers office through to some of the most respected engineers in the country. Add to this our trade background and you have not only an eclectic partner, but one that is deeply personal and yet overtly practical. In essence, we don’t sit in plush offices on level 46 controlling contracts. We mix it with the best and brightest and yet, can hang out at smoko with the team to address the very real day-to-day issues that affect the project. It’s this element that makes us so unique and why we deliver every time.
OUR PORTFOLIO
Manufacturing
We were recently engaged by Walshs Glass to implement a business transformation strategy. The contract hinged on the implementation of the fastest vertical standing CnC glass cutting machine in the world. As a result we managed the Project Control Group (PCG) and worked tirelessly with internal staff and the Austrian based LiSEC Group. A key element of the contract was the implementation of production planning software (GPS PROD, LIS.Dispatch, dynopt) and the production linkage with the business and sales side of the business via GPS Order.
NZ Education
From 2016 through to mid-2018 SMEA CEO Dean Logan, developed and implemented a change management program for the well respected NZ based company, School Support Limited (SSL). With six powerful divisions, SSL was considered an industry success story spanning 27 years. Dean successfully restructured divisions whilst Project Managing in-excess of $50M worth of projects a day across the country for the NZ Ministry of Education.
Emergency Management
As part of the role with School Support Limited (SSL) in New Zealand, Dean has to manage the emergency services contract for the entire South Island of New Zealand for the NZ Ministry of Education. This was a huge contract placing serious pressure on the Project Management Team post the Christchurch and Kaikoura earthquakes.
