A few years ago we asked the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries (FCAI) if they could support us and global manufacturers on mandatory regulations that fitted Operator Protection Devices (OPDs) on quad bikes. They said NO because they were having a fight with the ACCC over air bags and didnt want to upset the ACCC. our question to the CEO of the FCAI: can you not, as a the peak lobby group lobby two issues at the same time?
Payroll Tax Needs to be Abolished
When the GST was introduced State and Territory Governments agreed to abolish payroll tax in return for GST revenue. But it never happen. Payroll tax is a disincentive to hire staff on the basis that once you go over the threshold, you pay payroll tax on all employees. It should be abolished.
